Mindfest 2024

I was challenged at the first AI conference last year in Boca Raton which was run by the University when I asked the question, at an open discussion, “Can a robot be hypnotized?”.

David Chalmers, the keynote speaker, replied that it was a very good question and asked if anyone knew the answer. No one did but of course I did. The answer is simply ‘NO’. It can hypnotise a human but not the other way round.

Last year’s Mindfest conference was fascinating and informative. I’m looking forward to this year’s conference on 1st & 2nd February at the Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton. Click on the poster graphic for more information.

March 2023 was my first opportunity to meet AI experts when I attended the Mindfest Conference.

It was a fascinating exploration of the nature of mind and the future of AI, which has progressed so much since then.

Last November, I had the privilege to attend “A Discussion on AI” at the Kravis Center.

A highlight was the demonstration of a four-legged robot named Spot, developed by Boston Dynamics. Chris Nielson is Founder and CEO of Palm Beach-based Lavantas that developed the software that he calls ‘the brains’ of the robot. It scans the area surrounding it using a “cognitive inspection platform” and 16 cameras to capture videos and pictures to help identify anything not operating normally or that may be unsafe.
